Nissan Scanning Vehicles for Radioactive Material

Nissan has started scanning vehicles made in Japan for traces of radioactive material, a company official said Friday.

"Looking ahead, we will continue to implement all appropriate measures to reassure the public that all products from our company remain within globally accepted safety standards and until we are confident that any risk of contamination is completely removed," said Simon Sproule, corporate vice president of marketing for Nissan Motor Company.

Sproule said the monitoring began this week.

Nissan Recalling 747,000 Vehicles in U.S.

Nissan North America announced a recall on Thursday of 747,000 trucks and SUVs in the U.S. because of the risk of failure to the electrical systems.

Nissan said the recall extends to Nissan Armadas and Titans from 2004 to 2006, Infiniti QX56s from 2005 and 2006, as well as Nissan Frontiers, Pathfinders and Xterras from August 2003 and June 2006.

Nissan Recalls More Than 2.1M Vehicles Worldwide

Nissan is recalling more than 2.1 million vehicles worldwide over engine problems, the automaker said Thursday.

The Japanese automaker said the problem may cause the engine to stall. In extreme cases, a stalled engine cannot be restarted.

For the 2011 model year, the adventure-ready Nissan Xterra offers a simplified model lineup. The previous Off-Road model has been renamed Xterra PRO-4X and the Xterra SE model is no longer available – leaving three 2011 Xterra models: Xterra X, Xterra S and Xterra PRO-4X. The X and S models are available in 4x2 or part-time 4-wheel drive. PRO-4X has standard part-time 4-wheel drive. The S and PRO-4X models have a choice of 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmissions.

Nissan Vehicles Recalled Due to Garmin Navigation System Battery Problem

In the wake of the numerous Garmin Nuvi navigation system recalls, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that Nissan has also recalled a number of late-model vehicles in order to handle the Nuvi’s electrical issues.

Models affected by this most recent recall include the following from model years 2008-2010 that have the Garmin nav system: the Nissan Altima, Frontier, Pathfinder, Rogue, Sentra, Versa and Xterra.

Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) has announced U.S. pricing for the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder SUV, Xterra SUV and Frontier mid-size pickup. All three vehicles are on sale now at Nissan dealers nationwide.

Among the numerous significant enhancements for 2011, Pathfinder adds a new Silver Edition model in celebration of its 25th anniversary. The Silver Edition includes leather-appointed seating, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, 10-speaker Bose® audio system, heated front seat, Nissan Intelligent Key(TM) and more. Xterra adds a new PRO-4X model - joining the popular Titan PRO-4X and Frontier PRO-4X with unique off-road performance equipment and distinctive exterior and interior treatments. Frontier, the "Highest Ranked Midsize Pickup in Initial Quality" in J.D. Nissan on Thursday announced pricing on the 2011 Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra, including details on new special models including a Pathfinder 25th anniversary special edition that starts at $36,290 for the 4x2 version. Price includes an $800 destination charge.

The 2011 models are on sale now.

Nissan Xterra To Meet Its Demise?

The rugged Nissan Xterra will not live long enough to see its next generation according to the latest reports from Ward’s Auto. One of the few remaining SUVs that has stayed true to its body-on-frame design, the Xterra faces slumping sales and a substantial threat from looming federal fuel economy regulations.

Recent sales of the Xterra have fallen sharply compared to its heyday a decade ago. Back in 2000, Nissan sold 88,578 Xterras, which is a far cry from the 12,186 units Nissan has sold this year through the month of July.
