Usually when brakes are applied, sometimes randomly. Observed while driving. Might it be a keyless entry "unlock?"

Welcome to XF, Chris!

Could be a number of things, and I'm just guessing here. Could be a fluke with the arm/disarm of the alarm, or a loose connection somewhere. Loose/faulty fuse or wire.

Since it happens when you brake, it sounds more logical (inertia causing something to move a particular way, etc.)

Do the lights flash similar to a lock/unlock event or is it more random?

Have you done any electrical work lately like adding an alarm? How many miles on the X before this started?

Welcome to XF BTW! :)

My friends Altima is doing the same thing. He was told by a mechanic it is most likley a bad ground.... somewhere.... it is just finding that "somewhere" that is the trick since it is a random problem.

Good luck, if my friend and I figure out a plan to fix his car, I'll let ya know.

Wow. You were all very helpful, problem identified. If I tapped or shook my keys (or, I guess, if they swung as I braked), the doors would unlock/disarm ... the resulting hazard light flash is part of that (I might have heard the doors redundantly unlocking if I didn't always have the radio on so loud :D ). I cracked-open the key fob found that the "unlock" button on the keyless entry fob was stuck. There are three small buttons with a little metal pop up inside and the popup for the unlock button was permanently flattened. If I even touched it, rather than pressed it, it would trigger. I removed the popup altogether (seems to be only a spring-type function) and it seems fine now. Thanks a bunch!
