Nissan Sales Drop
Among light trucks, sales of the Murano fell 38.5 percent to 4,199, while Xterra sales fell 32.8 percent to 3,911 and Pathfinder sales dropped 19.5 percent to 4,813.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nissan North America Inc. said Thursday its December U.S. sales fell on a drop in demand for light trucks.
Nissan (nasdaq: NSANY - news - people ) sold a total of 89,555 vehicles in December, down 2.4 percent from 91,775 sold in the same month of 2006.
Sales of light trucks tumbled 5.3 percent to 36,937 from 39,001, while car sales edged down 0.3 percent to 52,618 from 52,774.
Among light trucks, sales of the Murano fell 38.5 percent to 4,199, while Xterra sales fell 32.8 percent to 3,911 and Pathfinder sales dropped 19.5 percent to 4,813.
The automaker sold a total of 6,288 of its new Rogue crossover vehicle.
The passenger car results included a 21.7 percent drop in Maxima sales to 4,047 and a 5.9 percent drop in Sentra sales to 6,879. Versa sales rose 49.8 percent to 6,214.
Infiniti division sales fell 3.5 percent to 12,655.
For the full year 2007, Nissan sales rose 4.5 percent to 1.1 million from vehicles from 1 million. Adjusted for one additional selling day in 2007 compared with 2006, Nissan sales rose 4.5 percent.
Nissan's U.S.-traded shares rose 18 cents to close at $21.71.
